Welcome
Businessman Jim O'Dea was deeply hurt by the vandalism caused at Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery on 9 August 2024 and wanted to gather together a group of like-minded people who could take steps to correct the damage caused to 143 headstones and graves. He contacted "The Chronicle" columnist Greg Johnson and together they organised media, and meetings with Toowoomba Regional Council, RSL Toowoomba sub-branch, community groups and individuals. Thus the Headstone Healing Project was born with the goal of restoring the cemetery's heritage and history.
Our Volunteers.
Headstone Healing Project founder Jim O'Dea was quickly joined by a number of good people who wanted to share his goal of raising funds to correct the damage to 143 headstones and graves at Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery. In that number were stonemasons, historians, educators, engineers, accountants, journalists and other specialists. Although the group is informal several concerned people have taken up positions.
